壮大なファンタジー
Lo d of the ingsは非常にスケールの大きいファンタジーだが、本シリーズはそれを超えるスケールの大きさだ。登場人物の多彩で各々が運命に翻弄されていく姿は歴史書を読むような深みがある。ファンタジーといっても決して心が躍るような楽しい世界を期待してはいけない。ここに描かれた神、人間の何れも厳しい運命に耐えて生きている。しかし一度読み出したら終わらないことは請け合いなので是非読んでほしい。次の巻が待ち遠しくて仕方がない。

I find it ha d to elieve that people who only ead the fi st did not want to continue with the se ies. Yes the fi st was a little o ing compa ed to this, ut we have eached the climax of the se ies. I elieve that we a e in fo a lot of sup ises (think ack to the Epilouge with the 'silent women'). If you have not ead the enti e se ies, STOP!!!!! Sta t f om the eginning. You will miss a lot of impo tant elements. If you have not yet egun the ook, go get the fi st and second ones: A Game of Th owns and A Clash of Kings. It will make fo easie eading and giving you facts that you must know efo e continuing. I must admit when I fi st got the fi st ook, I did not expect this cha acte point of view epeated th ough out the ook, ut now, I actually like eading like this, it makes it mo e inte esting. p RECOMENDED: THe P ice of Immo tality y C.M. Whitlock is one of the est ooks I have eve ead. It is a must ead fo any fantasy fan

ハードカバーは高いし重いので Amazon.UKで少し大き目のトレードペーパーバックを購入しましたが、それでも本が到着したときは「ひええ、これを通勤電車の中で読むのか…」と青くなりました。分厚い。しかし、読み終わった今となってはもっともっと話が長ければ良かったと願っています。 あまりにも凄い展開で、何度も本を壁に向かって投げつけたくなったこともしばしば。第一作目の「A Game Of Th ones」で、ただの歴史ファンタジーというカテゴリーに入れてはいけない世界に触れてから もう嵐のごとくシリーズ3作を読みましたが、残りの3作をあと何年たてば読めるのか… この苦しみは拷問に近いです。 G.R.R.Ma tinの本は 大変良く出来た吸血鬼ドラマの「フィヴァードリーム」（邦訳有り）しか読んだ事がありませんでしたが、今はもう私のベスト５に入る作家となっています。 とにかく、面白すぎる。 皆さんも是非読んでください。 想像を絶する世界があなたを待っています。

Don't take me w ong; this doesn't mean that the ook is incomp ehensi le, quite to the cont a y it makes it makes it mo e g andiose than you'd have elieved it possi le. So to summa ize it up, this is the ook that makes you elieve even the impossi le. p 絶対読まなければならない一作です。

言わずと知れた氷と炎の歌シリーズの第4巻です。翻訳を待ちきれずに読みました。英語は文章は難しくないのですが、単語が難しく苦労しました。 お話は、これは、もう波乱万丈、驚愕の展開で、第3巻の終盤で度肝を抜かれた人でもまたまた愕然とする事必至です。 後書きで、著者も書いていますが、本書では、デーナリウスやジョンスノウは殆ど出てきませんが、そんな事に気が回らない出来事がサーセイやジェイムやアーリアに降りかかります。 早く、第5巻を読みたいです。

イメージがふくらむ画集
「氷と炎の玉座」シリーズの画集です。英語で書かれている説明部分が読めませんが、純粋に絵とその題名を見ているだけで楽しめます。 ジョージ・Ｒ・Ｒ・マーティンのつむぎだす壮大な物語のイメージがこの画集で膨らみます。何枚かのイラストには目を奪われました。ただ、この画集はたくさんの画家・イラストレーターによる「氷と炎の玉座」シリーズの絵のアンソロジーなので、好みの絵とそうでないのとが誰にも生まれると思います。また、アニメチックな絵はほとんどありません。 よい点は、 ・シリーズの「七王国の玉座」「王狼たちの戦旗」で読んだ魅力的なキャラクターや印象的な場面のイメージが鮮やかに、重厚なタッチでよみがえります。私のお気に入りは、表紙にもなっている「鉄の玉座に座るサー・ジェイム・ラニスター（かっこいい！）」「ジェイムとサーセイの禁断の場面を見てしまったブラン・スターク（私は物語を本で読んでいてこの場面で初めて心をつかまれました）」「剣を振るうサー・グレガー・クレゲイン（すごい迫力！）｣です。 気になる点は、 ・同じ人物が複数の画家によって違う描かれ方をしているので、イメージが壊されたと感じてしまう部分もあります。そして、一部の絵はあまりかっこよくなく、日本人の感覚に合わないものもあります。 ・まだ日本語化されている本にはちゃんと出てきていない人物の絵もあります。題名を見ても誰を描いた絵かよくわからないものも一部あります。 ・「アリア・スタークの馬面」がちゃんと描かれているので、アリアファンは見ないほうがいいかも(笑）。
