この映画は私の観た映画の中のベスト20の上位につくであろう、と思うほど感動した作品です。しかし、英語学習歴20年を誇る私は、不覚にもイニスとジャックが何を言っているのか、全く聞き取れず、ぜひ脚本を読みたいと思っていました。早速アマゾンさんで購入してページを開くとなんと原作とセットになっているではありませんか！しかも脚本は恐らく監督や製作者そして俳優達用に書かれたものと同じだと察するほど、台詞以外の描写がきめ細かく書かれていて、映画をより理解するのに役立ちます。決して簡単に読める文章ではないと感じる一方、映画を観たから何が書かれているのか想像しやすく、さくさく読めます。本当に買って良かったと思います。「イニス、ジャック、あなた達はこう英語で言ってたのね！」と再び感動しています。
削ぎ落とすだけ削ぎ落として・・・原石の美文を読んだ
こんなに熱心に読んだのは久しぶりです。辞書を引き引きなので一進一退ならぬ一日１ページなのですが。こんな孤独な愛があるのだと、女性が書いたとも思えないざらついた、それでいて巧みな心理描写に打たれました。シナリオ付だったのが幸いして、かなり助かりました。是非この日本語訳も出版してほしいと思います。☆４個は己の未熟な英語力で読みきれない部分があったことなので作品はすばらしかったです。最近恋愛小説(？)なんて全く読んでいませんでしたが、久々に胸に堪えました。

Opinion
I highly ecommend any of Annie P oulx's wo k. 'B oke ack' is a sho t sto y not a novel, that has een expanded into a a full length featu e film. The o iginal Sto y appea ed in the New Yo ke in the Late 1990's and I emem e eing ve y touched y it ack then. It was also inte esting to ead the McMu t y Ossana sc een play in which the oles of the women we e enla ged--even c eated f om sc atch. The e is a da kness to this sto y that t ou led me, the unde lying violent tensions. This is a aw sto y of t ue emotions. The actual movie othe ed me ecause of the good looking acto s po t aying the main cha acte s is not t ue to the sto y. I also do not ca e fo all the 'st aight' hype conce ning this flick. It has ecome a adge of hono fo st aight men to go see this movie and p ove how enlightened they a e, while othe men immediately demean it ecause of the su ject matte . I don't think most st aight men a e eve going to e comfo ta le watching a gay cow oy movie with explicit sex, its just not in thei DNA. It doesn’t make them ad its just the way they a e (just like the cha acte s Jack Twist and Ennis Del Ma can't help the way they a e). I also enjoyed the w ite s essays on inging this sto y to the ig sc een. The ook also includes Black and white photos f om the movie--which again take away f om the sto y fo me as the acto s do not look like the cha acte s desc i ed in the ook. The ook concludes with the movies c edits which is p o a ly of inte est to movie uffs, ut meant nothing to me. In conclusion if you’ e a ig fan of the movie youll p o a ly love this ook.
