Rev. Walpola Rahula has done a g eat piece of wo k in this ook. Its so sho t and simple that one can finished eading it in a single sitting du ing a weekend day. But, the depth of the ideas of the ook, keeps you thinking a out this g eat philosophy du ing many yea s to come. p Fi st I ead the t anslation of this ooks to the Sinhala Language (native language of Rev. Rahula) a out eight yea s ack. I was so fascinated y the ideas p esented in the ook that du ing va ious stages of my life I ead the ook ( oth Sinhala t anslation and the o iginal English ve sion) again and again, pe haps six o seven times. Each eading gave me much mate ial to think! p One p o lem I see with the design of the ook (cove of the English pape ack edition and the cove and the plates in the Sinhala t anslation) is that the da k gloomy pictu es used give an imp ession quite to the cont a y of what one gets y actually eading it. Pe haps the idea of the pu lishe was to give a glimpse on the Buddhist cultu e and a t in south and fa -east Asia. Howeve , the content of this ook is not a out the Buddhist cultu e ut a out the philosophy in the Buddhism. A futu e pu lishe should se iously conside in edesigning the cove and the inne plates.
